Tilmicosin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit, specifically, the 23S rRNA within the 50S subunit. Indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella spp. other tilmicosin-susceptible microorganisms, and ovine mastitis associated with Staphylococcus aureus and Mycoplasma spp. It can be used for the treatment of interdigital necrobacillosis in cattle (bovine pododermatitis, foul in the foot) and ovine footrot.
